Engagement Manager 35 Hours Per Week 

The Byker Community Centre has been at the heart of our Byker community since 1928. 

The Centre has become an increasingly active part of day to day living in Byker, and since opening our doors again in 1986 is continuing to flourish and grow with the participation of active volunteers from the community.  

Building on this success, Byker Community Centre is now looking to recruit a full-time Engagement Manager to join the Team. We are seeking to recruit an experienced, energetic, innovative and committed individual for this crucial role in developing and maintaining relationships in the Community. 

This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who has experience of managing volunteers, engaging a diverse range of people in community projects that can clearly demonstrate impact, and ability to develop community led  strategies as part of a busy team. The successful post holder will be required to collect and report data, activities and their impact.

Engagement Lead £30,372 (range)- 

Leave entitlement: 22 days plus bank holidays (Pro Rata)

Reporting to Centre Manager

Hours 35 per week 

Job Description 

Work with existing team and centre manager to develop and deliver an engagement strategy which will be led by the local community with the goal of reducing social isolation and loneliness. 

Data collection and analysis for production of monitoring reports.

Attend Team meetings.

Funding applications for project delivery : Draft / proposal Bid development and production.

Supporting delivery of 3 main projects (6 year BP), identifying related projects for ongoing development and preparing draft bid outlines.

Strategy Development (Stakeholder & Community Engagement).

Operational delivery of Story Hub project (objective).

Attend partnership / network meetings and deliver against agreed actions

Produce regular Impact Assessments for Centre Manager and Board

Recruit and manage volunteers 

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in health and social care.

  • Managing, delivering and evaluating projects with communities in the lead.

  • Experience of writing funding applications.

  • Managing volunteers and paid staff.

  • Partnership working.

  • Data collection and analysis.

  • Writing reports.

  • Good understanding of IT and social media, including using Google Drive. 

Desired:

  • Knowledge of local service providers and networks.

  • Driving licence.

Safeguarding responsibilities

You will be required to complete DBS Enhanced Disclosure and must be eligible to work in the UK.
